Energy in Agriculture is delighted to announce that The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) has come on board as headline sponsor for the event in 2019. Energy in Agriculture which takes place in Gurteen College, Tipperary on August 20th is Ireland’s largest energy event for the farming community. SEAI has both supported and participated in the event since its inception back in 2016.
SEAI is leading Ireland’s clean energy transition, working with homeowners, businesses, communities and Government to transform how we think about, generate and use energy.
Fergus Sharkey, Head of Business and Public Sectors in SEAI said: “SEAI is delighted to once more sponsor Energy in Agriculture, the key energy event in the Irish farming calendar. With support from SEAI, the farming community is more than ever installing energy efficient technologies to lower their business costs and switching to clean renewable energy technologies. The opening of the Support Scheme for Renewable Heat now provides farmers opportunities to decarbonise their operations, and also creates new business opportunities for farmers in the biomass supply chain. An increased interest in these issues is evident from the growth of Energy in Agriculture where farmers can find out how sustainable energy solutions can help their operations.”
Sharkey continued; “Typically a farm or business can save 10-20% on energy costs by changing behaviour and minimal investment in energy efficiency. I’d encourage anyone in the farming community who wants to learn more about saving energy to come along to the event where SEAI will be on hand to offer advice. “
SEAI will be available at the event to assist with enquiries surrounding dairy farm grants, biomass grants plus their entire range of grants available to homeowners, businesses and community groups.
The event is now firmly established as Ireland’s largest renewable energy event for the farming community and last year attracted 3000 visitors. Once again it will give farmers the opportunity to explore the latest renewable energy opportunities to use clean technology, drive efficiency and manage business costs in Irish agriculture.
There will be panelled discussions taking place throughout the day with prominent Irish Sustainability and Agricultural voices. Brand new for this year will be an Energy Efficiency Demonstration and Dairy Case Study which will take place in Gurteen’s new high-tech dairy parlour. The Practical demonstration will showcase options for improved efficiency and new technologies. The ever-popular biomass and solar pv demo also returns.
Our series of talks, led by experts in the field with practical case studies led by farmers and practitioners, will include:
• Reducing Energy Costs – Where to Start
• How to achieve energy efficient lighting
• Biomass Supply chain from Farm forestry
• Renewable Electrification of Farms
• Fuel Switching – Renewable Heat Demand
Our team of energy experts return to offer free one-to-one advice in the following areas:
• Energy Cost facilitated by Tipperary Energy Agency
• Taxation facilitated by IFAC
• Planning facilitated by Tipperary County Council
• Legal issues facilitated by Staines Law
• Finance facilitated by AIB
There will be a plethora of advice to be found in the Exhibition arena with some of Ireland’s leading renewable energy suppliers, technology suppliers, funding providers and advisory bodies.
An exciting new addition for 2019 is the launch of Agri Futures Arena. We will be looking at the latest in EVs, agricultural based technology and automation. Sustainable and Robotic Agri-tech companies will be demonstrating their innovations throughout the day.
